What is Diamond Shaving?
Diamond shaving involves grinding a channel in the surface to allow the resin material being applied on top to self-level within it for a smoother, more durable finish. The process is particularly effective on concrete and offers excellent, long-lasting results. Care must be taken when opting for diamond shaving, however, as it will become a permanent installation that can be costly to remove later.
A machine carefully removes the top layer of the surface using diamond cutting technology to shave away between 12mm and 3mm of a pre-determined width. This exposes a fresh surface area on which the paint or resin can bond more easily without any dirt or contaminants adversely affecting the results.
Diamond shaving is especially effective on floor surfaces where forklifts and other heavy machinery operate constantly and cause a lot of wear and tear. Diamond shaving helps produce lines that are less prone to damage, since the marking materials self-level with the flooring substrate, rather than sitting on top of it.
